We came across a discarded side table on the street and used it as the starting point for this project. Instead of restoring it, we chose to break it down and work from its individual parts.
Most of the original wood (around 80%) was reused, letting the existing shapes guide the new design. The table legs became structural elements for a lamp, while the rest was reshaped and repositioned through a process of trial, adjustment, and assembly. New components were introduced only where necessary: a wire cord, a lampshade, and 3D-printed connectors that act as the joints holding everything together.
The final piece doesn’t try to erase its origin. Marks, edges, and imperfections from the table are still visible, while silver tones are used to highlight the new elements that contrast with the wood.
More than a conversion, the project is about reinterpreting what’s already there—working with what exists and pushing it into a new use without losing its history.
