This project was developed in response to a brief to design a product for MUJI, taking into account the brand’s ethos of simplicity, functionality, and unobtrusiveness. Rather than focusing on aesthetics alone, the aim was to create an object that aligns with MUJI’s approach to everyday living—reducing excess and quietly improving daily routines.
In this context, the project explores how the placement of everyday objects can influence focus and the way we interact with technology. Instead of designing another accessory that increases accessibility, we developed a system that intentionally reduces the constant visibility of devices.
The result is a modular, textile-based storage unit that can function both as a bag and as an attachment beneath a desk. It organizes personal devices into layered compartments, keeping them within reach but out of immediate sight. By relocating technology below the workspace, it helps create a calmer, less distracting environment.
An integrated wireless charging pad is embedded within the central layer, allowing devices to charge while stored. This reinforces the idea of a dedicated place for technology—where it remains powered without needing to be constantly handled or displayed.
Constructed from felt and wood, the object reflects MUJI’s emphasis on material honesty and quiet functionality. Its form is soft yet structured, and the attachment system is simple and adaptable to different environments.
Rather than attempting to eliminate technology, the project proposes a subtle shift in how it is positioned and accessed—encouraging more intentional use through small changes in spatial organization.
